BetTrader Review Adam Todd

Originally created by Adam Todd, BetTrader is a piece of software that allows you to quickly place bets on the Betfair betting exchange.

What is the product?

There are a number of Betfair API’s on the market, most of which fundamentally do the same thing. BetTrader is one such example of this that has in some shape been around since 2005 when creator Adam Todd was trying to build the programme in Adobe Flash. Since then BetTrader has undergone a number of changes and now stands as a decent program that is the only example that immediately springs to mind when considering Mac users (BetTrader is both Windows and Mac compatible). BetTrader offers a number of different features and displays with the most prominent example being the ladder display that allows you to view a huge number of different bets per race/event. The big draw of BetTrader, as with all Betfair software lies in the fact that you can place bets with unparalleled speed, especially when compared to placing bets on the website.

What is the investment vs. the rate of return?

BetTrader comes with a free trial period of 7 days after which you can continue with a massively restricted free version or alternatively subscribe. Subscriptions are available monthly, 6 monthly or yearly and cost £14.99, £75 and £99 respectively. As well as subscribing you also have the option to pre purchase days of use at your leisure with packages starting at £5.99 for 3 days. In terms of income BetTrader isn’t really a direct money making method which makes it rather difficult to gauge how much you can earn. Ultimately as BetTrader is a tool, I would expect result to be qualitative rather than quantitative.

Does the product provide value for money?

On the yearly subscription I think that BetTrader just about falls into the value for money category but I am not convinced otherwise.

Conclusion

One of the big problems with the cost of BetTrader lies in the fact that there are other examples of trading software that essentially do the same thing for free. This makes justifying the costs rather difficult. If you trade on Betfair daily then BetTrader might prove to be of some value but for the majority of punters I feel that a free alternative such as Cymatic will be enough to meet their needs.
