What is the product?
Star Geldings is the first offering from Tipster Hub with the selections side of things being handled by Brian Tomlinson. The service favours selecting horses that have a BSP of 20-50 with the average Star Geldings winner having a BSP of 8.3. This is all geared towards a service that favours infrequent but big winners rather than consistent but small. This is reflected in the strike rate which is a rather paltry (on paper) 16.75%. The selections themselves are sent out via email although Star Geldings doesn’t appear to be a daily service like many tipster services. The selection process isn’t ever discussed which I find disappointing although this seems to be industry standard by now. The closest you come to any explanation are claims that Brian Tomlinson is a horse racing fanatic but that doesn’t really explain anything.
What is the investment vs. the rate of return?
There are three different subscription lengths available for Star Gelding. These run for 2 months, 6 months and 12 months. They cost £47, £87 and £117 respectively. Whilst there is no money back guarantee, if you are unhappy with Star Geldings then there is the option of swapping to another of their services. This would be great but at the time of writing, Star Geldings is the only service that they offer. In terms of the profitability of Star Geldings, at the time of writing it stands at 651.4 point for around 40.71 per month.
Does the product provide value for money?
Given the less than stellar prices and seemingly average service, I don’t think that Star Geldings does provide value for money.
Conclusion
This is a rather unspectacular service in my opinion. Star Geldings is priced fairly but that is about the best thing that you can say about it. There isn’t anything that stands out as bad about Star Geldings, but nor is there anything good. If you have an existing substantial portfolio and wish to take a punt on something new there may be some appeal in Star Geldings, but personally I don’t see anything to entice the average bettor.
